Scaleway helps us modernize our infrastructure by progressively migrating our stack to use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and scalable solutions like Kubernetes and Managed Databases

Scaleway can fulfill our needs by hosting both our legacy software and our SaaS products while allowing us to embrace new technologies like AI—all while being 100% sovereign by hosting everything in France. This is truly groundbreaking—Cocorico!

Challenges

To enhance these critical services, we are actively migrating our established client-server applications to modern SaaS software, while fully supporting our existing infrastructure. Scaleway's cloud services are instrumental in this evolution, providing the secure and scalable foundation to host and maintain both our cutting-edge SaaS platforms and our traditional client-server systems during their ongoing modernization. This partnership guarantees seamless service delivery and continuous reliability for our clients.

Solutions

Our platforms cover a variety of use cases and use multiple technologies to provide feature-rich services for our clients. Delivering these services requires significant flexibility from our hosting provider and seamless scalability—that's why we chose Scaleway. The availability of their team and their commitment to understanding our products and challenges makes them feel like part of our team. They don't just provide a service, but offer a true partnership.

The foundation of our SaaS platform is Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, with direct integration provided by Scaleway. We use this to deploy solutions for both internal use and our clients. Each of our products is designed to work in containerized environments, which is why we run Kubernetes across approximately ten clusters and 80 instances. Most platforms leverage Managed Databases and Object Storage for client data. For legacy software, we provide our clients hosting using virtual machines in Proxmox clusters built on Elastic Metal servers. Additionally, we use Serverless Container solutions for smaller services that support our platform operations.

To monitor this infrastructure, we use Cockpit to easily verify that everything runs smoothly and identify any bottlenecks. Their APIs help power our internal monitoring platform, enabling us to send alerts and keep our clients informed of any incidents.

Results

By migrating our solutions to Scaleway and refactoring our entire infrastructure to use solutions like Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code, we gained resiliency, security, and speed while simultaneously optimizing costs—both for our global infrastructure and the time required to manage it.

This modernized infrastructure has enabled us to introduce new products like our Business Intelligence solution, empowering our clients to better understand and act on their data.

Future plans

Looking ahead, we plan to use Scaleway's latest AI services to make our platforms more intuitive and keep us ahead of our competition. As part of this ongoing partnership, we actively explore all new beta products—for example, new Email services, Data management and processing tools (to enhance our Business Intelligence solution), and Search Databases to improve data accessibility.

On the sustainability front, we're particularly excited about the Environmental Calculator. Our goal is to leverage this data to provide our clients with actionable environmental impact insights—especially important given our work with public entities and our shared commitment to reducing emissions.
