Scaleway and Fujitsu join forces to bring more efficient AI inference to the cloud

Paris and Kawasaki, December 4, 2025 - Scaleway, Europe’s leading cloud provider, and Fujitsu, a global leader in high performance computing, today announced a strategic collaboration to explore CPU-based AI inference as a sustainable and sovereign option for European organisations. By combining Fujitsu’s advanced processor research with Scaleway’s European cloud expertise, the two companies aim to evaluate new ways to support efficient, responsible and secure AI deployment at scale.

Europe’s rapid adoption of AI has increased demand for infrastructures that reconcile performance, energy efficiency and data sovereignty. Many organisations now operate AI models continuously in production and require predictable performance, controlled operating costs and a reduced environmental footprint. CPU-based architectures are particularly well suited to these requirements as they offer stable performance, efficient energy use and simple integration within existing environments. MONAKA has been designed for this purpose and to complement the AI systems already used within Europe.

Fujitsu designed MONAKA with a focus on power efficiency, cost efficiency and **reliable inference performance. Early results shared by Fujitsu indicate gains of up to 1.9 times in power efficiency and up to 1.7 times in cost efficiency for selected inference workloads. MONAKA is also built to support models of up to 70 billion parameters, offering a high performance option for organisations seeking efficient AI deployment at scale.

A shared commitment to scalable and efficient AI infrastructure

For Scaleway, this collaboration is aligned with its objective to provide organisations of any size, with infrastructure that matches their operational and strategic requirements. AI workloads differ in scale, complexity and constraints, and Scaleway’s approach is to offer the appropriate architecture for each use case while maintaining full transparency on performance, cost and environmental impact.

By evaluating MONAKA within real inference environments, Scaleway and Fujitsu aim to broaden the range of efficient compute options available on Scaleway’s platform and support the development of AI systems that are both high performing and responsible.

Engineering teams from both organisations will work together to test MONAKA across real inference scenarios and explore how it could complement Scaleway’s existing portfolio of AI infrastructure services. The objective is to expand the options available to European builders and provide new paths to deploy AI at scale with efficiency and long term sustainability in mind.

"At Scaleway, our commitment to delivering unparalleled power efficiency in the cloud remains at the heart of everything we do, driving us to continuously innovate for a sustainable digital future. We are proud to announce our collaboration with Fujitsu, a partnership that will allow us to unlock new possibilities in efficient, responsible, and continuous AI innovation. By integrating MONAKA CPU into our infrastructure, we aim to enhance our offerings and empower our customers with cutting-edge AI solutions. This collaboration not only strengthens our ability to meet the evolving demands of the market but also ensures that our customers have access to the most advanced, sustainable, and high-performance AI technologies tailored to their unique needs.” - shares Yann-Guirec Manac'h, Head of Hardware R&D, Scaleway.

Naoki Shinjo,SVP, Head of Advanced Technology Development Unit, at Fujitsu Limited, comments:
“As AI's evolution accelerates at an incredible pace, its energy consumption has become a critical global challenge. The demand for optimal, flexible infrastructure to handle diverse workloads remains an urgent task. Our partnership with Scaleway is set to revolutionize this landscape. By fusing our cutting-edge technologies and deep expertise, we will create a truly power-efficient, CPU-based computing platform.
