Cloud Benchmark - European IaaS Compute
In October 2022, Cloud Mercato, a third research party firm, shared its comparison of IaaS compute products from more than 28 cloud providers in the State of the art of European IaaS Compute.
Let us recap where Scaleway Infrastructure-as-a-Service products stand in the cloud market today.
Outstanding price and performance for PRO2-M Instances!
Geekbench 5
According to Geekbench 5, the Scaleway PRO2-M Instance is one of the best performing General Purpose Instances on the market right now, at only €0.438/hour!
- One of the best multi-score performances with 12,552.1 mean, outperforming AWS’ m6i.4xlarge, OVH’s B2-60, GCP’s n2-standard-16 Intel Cascade Lake, and DigitalOcean's 16VCPU 64GB offers

Scaleway's free bandwidth means no egress fee and no vendor lock-in!
Scaleway is one of few cloud computing providers that doesn't charge for bandwidth costs.

In this analysis, Cloud Mercato concentrates exclusively on egress traffic, or traffic from the cloud provider's data center to the internet. Traffic price is split between inbound (from the internet), inter-regional, and outbound (to the internet) traffic.
It is common knowledge that traffic costs are not transparent and seldom foreseeable. This is even commonly cited as a major factor in vendor lock-in due to the free entry of data but paid leave. Calculating monthly traffic pricing may be complicated depending on the vendors used. Providers offer single-tier or multi-tier billing that might be simple or sophisticated. A number of patterns come out of the report, including:
- Free movement
- Traffic is free up to 1GB and costs less than $0.02
