How to configure IPv6 on a Dedibox
Before you start
To complete the actions presented below, you must have:
- A Scaleway account logged into the console
- Owner status or IAM permissions allowing you to perform actions in the intended Organization
- Created and uploaded your SSH key
- Created and installed a Dedibox server and transferred your SSH key to it during installation
- Activated an IPv6 block
This guide explains how to configure IPv6 for your Scaleway Dedibox server. IPv6 is fully supported across all Availability Zones, enabling modern addressing as your primary IP or for failover setups via virtual MAC. With a free /48 IPv6 block per account—divisible into /56 per server or /64 per failover IP—you can easily assign subnets using DHCPv6 and DUIDs.
Each Dedibox customer account comes with a /48 IPv6 block that can be divided into:
- as many /56 as you have servers.
- as many /64 as you have failover IPs.
You can assign these blocks to your Dedibox servers by using DHCPv6 and the DUID assigned to each of these blocks. To find more information on IPv6 on Dedibox, refer to our quickstart.
