How to configure the reverse DNS of a failover IP on Dedibox

Note

You can now manage resources from both the Scaleway and the Dedibox consoles. However, ordering Dedibox servers from the Scaleway console is only possible if you have added a SEPA payment method in your Dedibox console. If you do not complete this step, you can only use the Dedibox console to place orders (see the Dedibox documentation).

You can configure the reverse DNS (rDNS) of a failover IP address with a custom value. This is particularly useful when sending emails from your Dedibox, as some remote mail servers may reject messages originating from generic reverse hostnames.

Before you start

To complete the actions presented below, you must have:

  1. Click Dedibox in the Bare Metal section of the side menu.

  2. Click the Failover IPs tab to display a list of your failover IPs.

  3. Click more icon next to the failover IP you want to edit. A drop-down menu displays.

  4. Click Edit reverse. A pop-up displays.

    Tip

You can click more icon next to the IP you want to configure in the listing of the failover IPs on the left.

  5. Enter a new IPv4 reverse DNS and click Save changes.

    Important

Make sure that a valid and corresponding A-Record is set for the reverse DNS you want to configure.

The reverse DNS (PTR-Record) of the failover IP is being updated.
