How to use the ASRock Rack KVM

This page shows you how to use KVM on a Dedibox with ASRock Rack KVM.

Before you start

To complete the actions presented below, you must have:

Create an ASRock Rack session

  1. Access your Dedibox console and navigate to Server > Server List. This will display a list of your dedicated servers.

  2. Select the server you wish to access by clicking its name. This will open the server's status page.

  3. Click ASRock Rack on the right-hand menu. A pop-up window displays.

  4. Confirm your acceptance of the terms for ASRock Rack access by clicking I Accept.

  5. Provide the authorized IPv4 address for the ASRock Rack connection. The form will autofill with the IP address of your current internet connection. Click Create to generate your credentials.

    Note

    Currently, only IPv4 addresses are accepted.

    Once completed, the connection URL and your credentials will be displayed.

  6. Click the provided link to access the ASRock Rack OpenBmc interface.

Access the KVM-over-IP device

  1. Open the connection URL of your ASRock Rack in your web browser and log in using the credentials provided during access creation.
  2. In the ASRock Rack menu, click Operations, then KVM.

Note

You need a Qwerty keyboard layout to use the ASRock Rack OpenBmc interface. If your keyboard layout is different, you may encounter issues when using the KVM interface.

Mount an ISO file

  1. In the ASRock Rack OpenBmc interface, click Operations, then Virtual Media.
  2. Click Add a file and select your ISO file. Then click Start to mount the ISO file. The server is running from the ISO file.

Boot on the Virtual Media

  1. In the ASRock Rack OpenBmc interface, click Operations, then Server power operations.
  2. In Boot settings override, click Select USB.
  3. Optional. Check Enable one-time boot to boot from the ISO file during the next reboot only. If you do not enable one-time boot, the server will boot from the ISO file until you change the boot settings.
  4. Click Save to apply the changes.
  5. Check Force restart and click Reboot to reboot the server.

Your server boots from the ISO file and you can complete the installation of your operating system.
