Account - Quickstart

Scaleway is a complete cloud ecosystem, offering a single way for you to create, deploy and scale your infrastructure in the cloud. Creating your Scaleway account gives you access to the Scaleway console and Scaleway API, and you can deploy our products and services with ease.

Follow this guided tour to discover how to navigate the console.

How to create an account

  1. Open the Scaleway website in a web browser.
  2. Click Sign Up in the upper right corner of the page. You are redirected to the account creation page.
  3. Select an account type (Personal or Professional) and fill out the form with the requested information.
  4. Check the box to agree to Scaleway's Terms and Services, and Scaleway's Data Protection Agreement.
  5. Click Create account. A message displays, inviting you to verify your email address.
  6. Click the verification link sent to your mailbox to confirm your email address. You are redirected to the Scaleway console to continue your account creation.

Add your phone number

  1. Enter your phone number and click Send code.
  2. Enter the 6-digit code you received on your phone number.
  3. Click Verify phone number.

Add your billing information

Fill out the required fields, then click Add billing address. This address will be used in your invoices.

Note

You can click Add later to enter your billing information at a later time, and directly access your Organization dashboard in the Scaleway console. However, you will need to add a valid credit card to order Scaleway resources.

Add your credit card

Note

Prepaid cards and some virtual cards are not accepted as a payment method.

  1. Enter your credit card information, then click Add credit card. We will send you an authorization charge of €1, which will be automatically reimbursed within two days. A 3D Secure validation is initiated. Depending on your bank, you may be asked to enter a code received by SMS or to confirm via an application on your smartphone.
    Note

    You can click Add later to enter your billing information at a later time, and directly access your Organization dashboard in the Scaleway console. However, you will need to add a valid credit card to order Scaleway resources.

Validate your credit card

Note

This step is necessary for security purposes, but does not prevent you from using Scaleway resources. You have 10 days to validate your credit card once it's added.

When checking your bank statement, look for a €1 transaction labeled "SCW", followed by a 4-digit code (e.g., SCW* C-1234).

  1. Enter the 4-digit code.
  2. Click Verify payment method.

You are redirected to your Organization Dashboard.

How to create resources

Once you have validated your payment method, you can start ordering resources like Instances, Kubernetes Kapsule, Object Storage and more. Find out more about how to add resources to your Projects.

How to close an account

Every account has an associated Organization, which in turn has an Owner. When you create your account, you are designated as the Owner of the Organization associated with your account.

When you close your account, you delete all its resources and backups. Any guests who have joined your Organization will lose access because your Organization will no longer exist.

Important

There is a delay of up to 10 days between the time your account is closed and the time the system deletes your resources. It is recommended to manually delete all your Organization’s resources before closing your account. To reopen your account, contact support.
