Reviewed on 04 July 2024Published on 09 July 2021

Before you start

To complete the actions presented below, you must have:

  • A Scaleway account logged into the console
  • Owner status or IAM permissions allowing you to perform actions in the intended Organization
  • Created an IoT Hub and added a device to it
Important

The renewal feature becomes unavailable once you have provided your own hub Certificate Authority or previously replaced the device certificate since, in this case, the certificate authority is no longer managed by Scaleway.

The validity period of certificates generated by Scaleway is 10 years.

  1. Click IoT Hub in the Managed Services section of the side menu.

  2. Click the name of your IoT Hub. The hub’s overview page displays.

  3. Select the Devices tab. A list of your devices displays.

  4. Click the name of the device you wish to renew the certificate for. The device overview page displays.

  5. Scroll to the Renew Certificate section and click Renew Certificate. A pop-up appears with the following warning:

    Important

Be careful, if you renew this certificate at the following step, you will not be able to connect using the previous certificate.

  6. Click Renew Certificate to confirm.

  7. Click either the Download or Copy buttons to retrieve the new certificate and its private key.

    Important

Be careful, the keys are displayed only once. They are not stored by Scaleway.

  8. Click Close to complete the renewal process.

  9. Update the certificate on your device (MQTT client) using the certificate and the key you retrieved on step 7.
