Accessing a remote Mac mini with Reemo

In this tutorial, you will learn how to launch your Mac mini development environment on Reemo.io.

Before you start

To complete the actions presented below, you must have:

• A Scaleway account logged into the console
• Owner status or IAM permissions allowing you to perform actions in the intended Organization
• A Mac mini

Creating your Reemo account

1. Go to the Reemo portal and click Get started to create your Reemo account.

   

2. Enter your email address, a password and confirm the password in the form. Then tick the checkbox to agree to Reemo’s terms of service and click Continue to create your account. You will receive an email with a confirmation code.1. Go to the Reemo portal and click Get started to create your Reemo account.

   

3. Open your email account and check your security code. Then enter the code in the form and click Validate to confirm the account creation.

   
   Tip

   If you do not receive the validation code, check your spam folder. If you still cannot find the code, click Send again to receive it again.

4. Click My private key to display your private key which you need during the installation of the Reemo client on your Mac mini. The private key is also known as personal key when Reemo is used freely for personal use.

   Important

   Reemo uses a Private Key to connect your computers to your Account. We ask you to provide this private key when launching Reemo.exe for the first time on Windows and when installing it for the first time on Linux and macOS. To change or edit this private key, you can use the Reemo.exe on Windows or edit the reemo.ini file directly, located at /Library/Application Support/Reemo/reemo.ini on macOS.

Installing the Reemo client

1. Log into your Mac mini. You can connect to your machine either using the VNC client or via SSH.

2. If you are logged into the Mac mini via VNC, open a terminal. If you are connected via SSH you can skip this step.

3. Run the following command to install the Reemo client on your machine:

   curl -skL -o /tmp/install_reemo.x 'https://download.reemo.io/macos/setup.x' && sudo bash /tmp/install_reemo.x
   

   Note

   You must be logged into the administrator account of your Mac mini to run the command above.

   Tip

   You can find the latest version of Reemo and instructions how to install the application at https://reemo.io/download

   

4. Enter the private key of your Reemo account when prompted. Press Enter to validate.

5. Give Reemo access to screen recording (necessary for it to work). This needs to be done on macOS GUI, so if you installed via SSH, connect via VNC. Then, in System Settings, click Privacy & Security in the sidebar (you may need to scroll down). Then click Screen Recording and turn on screen recording for the Reemo app.

   Your remote computer is now displayed on your Reemo dashboard and ready to be streamed from any Chrome Browser (Desktop, Mobile etc..).

Connecting to your Mac mini using Reemo

1. Open the Reemo portal in a Chrome browser on a device of your choice.
   Tip

   Reemo works on any device capable of running the Chrome browser. This could be your PC, tablet, phone or any other device running Chrome.

2. Click on your Mac mini to open a session. The remote connection is established directly from your Chrome browser.
   
3. Log in your macOS using your credentials.
   

Your Mac mini will be displayed through Chrome.
